    In the realms of art, philosophy, and science, we fetishize the individual with "unique taste." We celebrate the scientist who sees the anomaly no one else sees, the philosopher who detects the crack in logic, and the artist who rejects the status quo for a singular vision.

We aspire to have this Critical Taste. Yet, there is a fundamental misunderstanding about what having "taste" actually requires.

We often believe we can be selectively critical—that we can be a rigorous judge of high art or theoretical physics from 9 to 5, and then switch off that discernment to become a passive, easy-going observer of life the rest of the time.

But the reality is: You can never be partially critical.

选择性敏感的迷思
Discernment is not a tool you pick up; it is a lens through which you view the world. If you possess the capacity to distinguish the profound from the mediocre in art, you inherently possess the capacity to distinguish quality from lack thereof in everything else.

To have "Unique Taste" is to have a heightened sensitivity to nuance. It is the ability to detect misalignment, lack of harmony, or laziness in execution.

You cannot train your mind to be hyper-alert to the nuances of a canvas or a hypothesis and expect it to be blind to the nuances of a conversation, a meal, or the architecture of a street. The neural pathways that allow for deep critical thinking in one domain are the same ones that process your daily reality.

We must accept that having a critical eye is a package deal. We cannot ask for the genius of unique insight without accepting the burden of constant judgment.

To be critical of art but uncritical of life is a contradiction. It suggests that your taste is merely a performance—a hat you wear—rather than an intrinsic part of your nature. True taste is involuntary. It is a relentless scanning for truth and quality.

Therefore, we should stop apologizing for being critical of "everything." It is not negativity; it is the inevitable side effect of a mind that is constantly seeking the "better," the "truer," and the "more beautiful."

  • 2026年1月30日：做了一个超级长的梦 沉浸而且没有丝毫断片过 完整 而且想表达的几乎都说了 从头到尾的场景和对话内容都是意愿中的发展路线 甚至还有一点outlook 唯一只有地点不太对 就是边走边谈话 做的梦过于完整 以至于醒来之后像是经历了一场长跑 缺氧需要深呼吸的那种疲惫 like running out of breath
  • 不知道怎么的，有时候一个完整的表达，前半句写完之后写个转折词，下半句就忘了刚才想要表达的内容。But写完我就忘了我原来想说啥话了。
  • 身体是物理实体，但是思想飘渺无定形，然而你也可以寻影遂踪，通过一个人的思考记录、作品风格能够描边出来。
